A Bitcoin wallet is a free app that holds your Bitcoin. Think of it like a digital purse — but instead of cash, it holds Bitcoin. Pick one of these trusted, beginner-friendly options:
These are all free to download. You don't need to buy any Bitcoin to get started — just install the app!

Create your wallet and write down your seed phrase
Open the app and tap Create New Wallet. The app will show you a list of 12 words — this is your seed phrase. It's the backup key to your wallet.
⚠️ Write it down on paper. Don't screenshot it.
Your seed phrase is the only way to recover your wallet if you lose your phone. Store it somewhere safe — a notebook, a safe, somewhere private. Nobody can recover it for you if you lose it.

Once you've written it down and confirmed it, you're set. Your wallet is created and belongs to you — no account, no password reset, just that seed phrase.

Add some Bitcoin and pay
To pay a merchant with Bitcoin, you need Bitcoin in your wallet. You can buy it directly in most wallet apps, or through apps like Coinbase or Cash App.
Once you have some Bitcoin, paying is simple: tap Send, then scan the merchant's QR code. The app fills in the address and amount automatically. Confirm and you're done.

Bitcoin transactions are usually confirmed within a few minutes. Your merchant will see it arrive and complete your transaction. Welcome to Bitcoin! ₿
Before you pay — verify the merchant
Bitcoin payments are irreversible, so it's worth a quick check before you send. Here's what to look for:
The business name should appear on the OrangeTill screen — ask if it doesn't
Pay only the exact amount shown — don't send extra or round up
Verify the QR code comes from the merchant's device, not a piece of paper that could have been swapped
If anything feels off, trust your instincts and pay with cash instead
Ready to pay?
Ask your merchant to show you the QR code on their OrangeTill screen. Open your wallet, tap Send, and scan.
